If you're looking for something different to do this Friday night and are missing live music, our Just Jamming partners Jazz Steps have got just the thing.
Settle in and relax as the Dave Storey Trio are live streamed into your home from Peggy's Skylight!
The trio, led by drummer and composer Dave Storey with regular saxophonist and composer James Allsopp features, on this occasion, special guest Ross Stanley playing Hammond organ. Playing in the classic jazz tradition and inspired by the true legends of the idiom such as Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson and John Coltrane, the band have cultivated a unique and refined sound throughout their many years of playing together. Characterised by intense energy, often contrasting to cool and ethereal, always with superb originality and intrinsic sense of playfulness.
They are currently celebrating the launch of their second album - Jouska - to critical acclaim, following their superb first album Bosco. For this special live-streamed broadcast from Peggy’s, the trio will select a handful of their original compositions from both albums and also perform new, as yet unheard material.
“Effortless empathy from the very first note, and the conversation is real” Mary James, London Jazz News
Having gigged extensively as regular performers in and around London and the UK over the last 8 years at clubs such as Ronnie Scott's and The Vortex, their rapport and connectivity on stage is superbly entertaining and the resulting performance shows a deep connection, bringing a unique and captivating sound to an old tradition. Watch a video of the trio with trio regular Connor Chaplin on bass (rather than Ross on organ) on YouTube here.
“An almost perfect blend of discipline and looseness” - Ian Mann
