Dates for the Diary

Are you a musician? Are you looking for an outlet to practice and perform?

Put the 28 September in your diary for the relaunch of Just Jamming, our monthly music improv night!

Just jamming will be led by local jazz musician and improviser Joe Egan. Over the course of the evening there will be the opportunity for everyone to improvise and perform together.

This will include a number of improvisation games as well as the more traditional playing of jazz standards and blues forms.

Whether you’re a seasoned professional or you’ve never jammed before, there’ll be ample opportunity for you to get up, get involved and make some noise!

This is specifically for musicians aged 60 and above but all ages are welcome to come along to listen and play.

This is a FREE event and takes place on the last Tuesday of every month. (Please note. December date TBC)

There is on-site parking and the building is fully accessible.

Come along on the day or let us know you're coming by booking a space via the website on eventbrite or by contacting us at Artspeak@radfordcaregroup.org.uk / 0115 978 6133

ArtSpeak Ambles

Join us for an autumn stroll around Highfields park on Wednesday 6 October as part of our ArtSpeak Ambles, Local history Walk and Talk series, from 10:30 - 12:00.

This 21 hectares of parkland has a lot to offer and plenty of history. Explore the area and find out who owned and landscaped the park to how it can be seen and enjoyed today. Boasting a wonderful selection of magnificent trees, exotic plantings, water features and boating lake, the park is a continued favourite for a range of recreational activity.

Home to Lakeside Arts, they have recently released an original audio experience inspired by the beautiful parkland and images held in The University of Nottingham's archives. The work is titled 'Sit with us for a Moment and Remember', and is an immersive narrative, reflecting on different views and how landscape changes over time through the seasons. If you join us for the walk you might also be interested to view the latest exhibition in the Djanogly Gallery - Breaking the Mould: Sculpture by Women since 1945

'Breaking the Mould  is the first major survey of post-war British sculpture by women. Spanning more than seventy years and exploring the work of fifty sculptors, the exhibition provides a redress to the many accounts of British sculpture that have marginalised women or airbrushed their work out of art history altogether.' The exhibition is on until Sunday 9 January.

ArtSpeak Art Club

Our Art Club continues on Tuesday afternoons, from 15:00 - 17:00 at 25 Prospect Street. So far, participants coming to the group have been learning and exploring different techniques including working with recycled plastics to produce bunting and tealight holders. They've also been introduced to the intricate art of dotting and tried it out on different surfaces such as pebbles and slate tiles.

Sessions are £5 and all materials are provided. No prior experience or skillset is required, it's all about being experimental and having some fun!

Upcoming dates:
